It’s January and people talk about motivation , or getting motivated….
is motivation all its cracked up to be ???
Motivation is a bit like a muscle…. it tires……. over time if you require motivation with something you will more than likely stop…. give up or be less consistent.
Discipline however is what gets the job done long term and a forms HABITS.
JUST THINK ABOUT BRUSHING YOUR TEETH OR HAVING A BATH OR SHOWER !!
When was the last time you had to get really motivated and pumped up to brush your teeth or have a shower ????
Its the discipline of wanting clean teeth, not smelling and the fact they are now hopefully daily habits which means they happen daily
How does this relate to diet & exercise ??
Initially motivation is needed to get over the “being uncomfortable” phase of eating foods that nourish over the junk food hit and cravings associated or going a walk / jog / gym instead of watching box sets every night on Netflix or getting up earlier to do some exercise rather then an extra 30 minutes in bed !!
After a period of consecutive days the discipline and the habit will take over….
For some people that may be 7 days others 21 other maybe 60……
The key is to stay in the game until discipline takes over and they become a habit !!
This is what champions do….
